Where is Mio Matcha grown?

All of our matcha is grown and stone-milled in Japan.

Our current ceremonial matcha is sourced from carefully selected tea farms (including Uji and other premium regions known for their high-quality shade-grown tea).

We always prioritise farms that focus on quality, freshness and sustainable practices, so you can enjoy a smooth, vibrant matcha in every cup.

Is matcha good for you?

Matcha is made from finely ground green tea leaves, so you’re actually consuming the whole leaf, not just an infusion.

Mio Matcha is naturally rich in:

  • Antioxidants (including catechins such as EGCG)
  • Chlorophyll
  • L-Theanine, an amino acid associated with calm focus

Together with caffeine from the tea plant, L-Theanine can provide sustained energy and focus without the intense jitters or crash you might get from coffee.

How do I make the perfect Mio Matcha?

Here’s a simple method for a traditional bowl of matcha:

  1. Add ½–1 teaspoon of Mio Matcha to a bowl and sift if possible.
  2. Pour in about 50–60 ml (1.5–2 oz) of hot water.
  3. Use a bamboo whisk (chasen) to whisk in a fast “M” or “W” motion until the matcha is smooth and frothy.
  4. Top up with more hot water or your favourite milk for a latte and enjoy hot or iced.

Tip: For best flavour, use water around 70–80°C (160–175°F) rather than boiling.

I’m new to matcha. Which product should I start with?

If you’re just getting started, we recommend our Mio Matcha Ceremonial Starter Kit.

It includes everything you need to whisk your first bowl properly at home and is a great way to learn the basics before exploring other matcha styles and recipes.

Does Mio Matcha contain sugar or flavourings?

No, our ceremonial matcha is 100% pure Japanese green tea, with no added sugar, sweeteners, flavourings or colours.

Any sweetness or creaminess you taste comes naturally from the quality of the tea and the way it’s grown and processed.

Is Mio Matcha vegan and gluten-free?

Yes. Pure matcha is made only from green tea leaves, so it is naturally vegan and gluten-free.

If you mix it with milk or other ingredients at home, the final drink will depend on what you add.

Where do you ship from and where do you ship to?

We ship all orders from Portugal.

We currently ship to Portugal and selected international destinations. The available countries and shipping options will appear at checkout.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping costs depend on your destination, order weight and the shipping method you choose.

All shipping fees are displayed clearly at checkout before you confirm payment.

If we’re running any free-shipping promotions, you’ll see them announced on the website and at checkout.

How can I track my order?

Once your order ships, you’ll receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking number.

You can then:

  1. Go to our Track My Order page.
  2. Enter your tracking number in the box provided.
  3. View the latest updates on your parcel.

Tracking information can take 24–48 hours to update after your order has been dispatched.

How long will my order take to arrive?

We prepare and pack your order as quickly as we can once it’s confirmed.

Approximate timings:

  • Domestic (within Portugal):
    Preparation time + a few business days for delivery, depending on the option selected at checkout.
  • International:
    Delivery times vary by country. Estimated delivery windows for your address are shown at checkout before you pay.

Please note that weekends, holidays and customs procedures (for some countries) can add extra time.

My order hasn’t arrived yet, what should I do?

First, please:

  • Check your tracking number on our Track My Order page.
  • Confirm the shipping address in your order confirmation email.
  • Allow a few extra days during busy periods or for international orders.

If it’s still not moving or seems lost, contact us with your order number and tracking number and we’ll help you investigate.

What if my order arrives damaged or there’s a problem?

We’re really sorry if anything arrives damaged or incorrect.

Please contact us (hello@mio-matcha.com) as soon as possible with:

  • Your order number
  • A brief description of the issue
  • Clear photos of the product and packaging

We’ll review your case and do our best to make it right in line with our Refund & Returns Policy.

Do you accept returns or refunds?

Yes, in certain situations and within specific time frames.
